Admit it - you hate standing there staring at numbers countdown while your stomach makes growling noises wanting a hot meal. It's almost magical how slow time seems to move while you are waiting on your microwave!
So I have solved this problem of what I am now calling microwave-induced-boredom-and-sudden-need-to-move-on. (or, MIBSNTMO). Aren't I scientific?
10 Productive Things You can do While Waiting on the Microwave.
It can be for yourself, your husband, family, friends, a troubling situation, or much more. Just talk with God!
2. Unload/Load the Dishwasher
You would be amazed at how many dishes you can move in the course of a minute. Make it a game to see how many you can do before the microwave's alarm goes off! After doing this whenever you use a microwave in a day you'll be surprised at how many dishes you get done.
3. Clean off a Section of the Counters.
Whether it is putting away clutter or wiping off the super-glue like food pieces stuck to them, cleaning off your counters while the microwave is counting down can be very productive.
4. Sing a Worship Song!
I think this can't be described better than in Hebrews 12:28, "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,"
5. Send an Encouraging Text to a Friend or Family Member
I'm sure all of us have a friend or family member who could use encouragement at one time or another. Take a little time to brighten their day, let them know you are thinking about them, and to compliment them.
6. Do Squats
I'm sure most of us could use a little more extra exercise (myself included). I was surprised to see how many squats I could do in 2 minutes!
7. Clean out the Refrigerator
Maybe if I cleaned out my fridge whenever I used the microwave it wouldn't look like I'm growing a garden in there? Who knew mold came in so many colors! Okay, so it's not really that bad... But it sure needs some TLC every once in a while! Give it a try!
8. Wipe off any Handles/Knobs in Your Kitchen
With cold and flu season coming up this one couldn't be more helpful. Just take a soapy, wet wash cloth and wipe down anything that people touch constantly. It helps keep the spreading of germs down, and well let's just face it: those things need to be cleaned every once in a while anyway!
9. Re-Organize the Silverware Drawer
I don't know about you all, but my silverware drawer can look crazy sometimes! Especially since I keep my measuring utensils in there as well. Take a minute or two to put things back in their proper place - you'll get done more than you think you will.
10. Do NOTHING!
Sometimes life gets crazy. I mean mind racing all the time, constantly moving crazy. You have a lot to get done and not a lot of time to do it. Maybe it would be productive to give yourself a little "microwave time". Time to just relax, take a breath, and clear your mind.
