One day this week I glanced out of a window when something caught my attention: my view of the mountains. More specifically, what was on the mountains.
Splotchy shadows. (as pictured). These shadows on the mountains were caused by clouds of various sizes blocking the sunlight from reaching the mountains below.
Although there are many "clouds" in my life of all various sizes, for me I realized it is primarily my busy, hectic schedule that is keeping me from God. I am taking 18 credit hours at a local college, working part time, trying to be a good wife and house keeper, attempting to exercise on a regular basis, and desperately trying to get a full-time job lined up for when I graduate this December. Forget even having a social life. I get so caught up in everything that I sometimes forget that HE should be my focus. Nothing else really matters.
Have you seen the movie The Matrix? Well, in a sense, this movie is actually pretty accurate for how the real world works. The plot of the movie is about how the lives we live on Earth are actually just an alternate reality to real world - where robotic alien creatures grow us in contraptions that make us hallucinate our whole lives away. Some of the people wake up fight these awful creatures to save humankind.
My pastor, Robert Russell, once said something that I will never forget. He talked about how he thinks we live in *the* perfect world. Not *a* perfect world. *The* perfect world to make choices. Our world is full of temptations, things, and evil forces that are trying desperately to keep us from God. To keep our attention on this world. Kind of like how the aliens didn't want the people in The Matrix to know that Earth wasn't a reality. Is Earth our reality?
This world is temporary. A training ground. A test. A battle against the evil one. A place to make choices. Will I choose to focus on the world, or will I choose to focus on God? Will I, like the heroes in The Matrix, wake up and face the true reality?
What will you chose?
